Renovation and outfitting project for training spaces, locker rooms, break area, coaching room, and team offices
"Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano" with the construction of a new external warehouse space
Intervention area approx. 600 m2 - Assago Forum - Milan 2021
Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano commissioned us to design the gym, locker rooms and showers for athletes and coaches, the refreshment room, the coaching room, and the team's fitness warm-up area at their training facility located at the Assago Forum. The project involved the renovation and subsequent outfitting of the spaces according to the team's functional needs, with the goal of creating a comprehensive and organized environment to support the various activities before and after training.
The design of the spaces was developed based on the specific needs of the athletes and staff, differentiating the various functions and organizing the spaces consistently with the activities performed. The gym and fitness warm-up area were designed to support the team's physical preparation, while the locker rooms and showers were organized as spaces dedicated to athletes and coaches. Completing the system are the coaching room and the refreshment room, areas intended for discussion and preparation and team breaks, respectively.
Particular attention was paid to defining the interior image , through a study of shapes, materials, and finishes that fully reflect the team's brand. The layout was therefore developed not only to meet operational needs, but also with the goal of creating a recognizable environment consistent with the identity of Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano. The coordinated choice of interior design elements helps strengthen the unified character of the spaces and make the space an integral part of the team's image.
Alongside the renovation of the existing spaces, a new building was designed to expand the existing ones. The new building was designed to serve the team's materials storage needs, introducing a complementary function necessary for managing daily activities and allowing for more efficient organization of the training facility's logistical needs.
The project therefore involved both the areas directly dedicated to athletes and staff and the spaces supporting team activities, creating an integrated system that accommodates physical preparation, recovery, discussion, and logistics management. The design sought to combine the functional needs of a professional sports facility with specific attention to the image and identity of the spaces.
The assignment included a feasibility study, preliminary design, executive design, architectural and plant engineering management, branding, preparation of building and land registry documents, and safety coordination, overseeing the project from the initial design phases through to implementation and management of the technical and administrative aspects.
The result is a completely renovated sports environment organized around the team's needs, where functionality, identity, and quality of spaces coexist in a project designed to support the daily activities of athletes and coaches and to consistently represent the Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano brand.
