Project for the new Aran headquarters in Rome
Intervention area approx. 1,600 m2 - 60 stations - Rome 2024
The project involved the construction of the new Rome headquarters of ARAN, the Agency for the Negotiation Representation of Public Administrations. The office, approximately 1,600 square meters spread over two levels, can accommodate up to 60 people. The project stemmed from the need to create a contemporary work environment, oriented toward well-being, collaboration, and creativity, through a design capable of responding to different working methods and user needs.
The project follows the principles of flexible office design , based on flexibility, modularity, and reconfigurability. The layout is centered around the central staircase, organizing the spaces to foster collaboration and socialization, while also providing more private spaces for concentration. The approximately 35 open-plan workstations are complemented by individual and executive offices, meeting rooms, collaborative rooms, phone booths, and breakout areas, allowing for a mix of individual work, discussion, and group activities.
Particular attention was paid to the well-being of the staff and the quality of the spaces. The use of warm materials such as wood, glass walls and partitions, and sound-absorbing solutions contribute to creating comfortable and functional spaces. The furnishings, custom-designed by STUDIO BIA-@RCH, were conceived to meet the company's specific needs, with particular attention to ergonomics and comfort.
The spaces' identity is defined through careful research into colors and materials, inspired by the principles of color and material design . A palette of warm, natural hues, combined with ARAN's signature blue and gray, creates a sober yet dynamic atmosphere, while the inclusion of nature-inspired elements makes the spaces more welcoming and inspiring.
The project's defining feature is the "satellite," a space projected outward through large ribbon windows, which houses a break area, a training room, and a meeting room. Designed for a more flexible and hybrid work model, the space allows users to freely choose the space best suited to their day's activities.
Break areas are also designed as informal meeting and collaboration spaces, equipped with technological infrastructure to support work.
Finally, particular attention was paid to the flexibility and technology of the spaces, with rooms equipped with advanced systems and spaces that can be reconfigured to meet different needs. Among these, the trading room is designed as a multifunctional space capable of hosting meetings, negotiations, and events, adapting to different configurations through home automation systems.
The result is a contemporary and dynamic headquarters, where flexibility, well-being, corporate identity, and technology coexist in a system designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and a new concept of the workspace.
