Located in a refined residential and office building in the Porta Romana area, the home is the result of the transformation of a 1950s apartment, reimagined to accommodate a contemporary lifestyle without erasing traces of its history. The project focused on the layout, finishes, and interior design with the goal of creating a new spatial continuity, connecting spaces, functions, and different living styles. The kitchen, living room, and dining area flow into a single, spacious and bright space, while the study, separated by two flush doors, maintains a visual and perceptual connection with the living area. The large glass surfaces and transparent internal doors amplify the depth of the spaces and promote continuity. The project establishes a natural dialogue between existing and new additions. Traditional elements and furnishings coexist with contemporary details, without stark contrasts: past and present meet in a spontaneous balance. The continuous parquet flooring and a neutral color palette define a discreet texture, designed to accommodate a few elements with strong character. The sleeping area, separated by a large, floor-to-ceiling door, unfolds around a spacious hallway furnished with closets and bookcases. The bathrooms introduce bolder accents with large-format porcelain tile coverings and furniture in vibrant hues, while the bedrooms, each in their own way, reflect the personality of their occupants. The result is a simple home, yet far removed from any minimalist rigidity, where the architecture defines a restrained framework for an authentic and lived-in domestic dimension. A project in which contemporaneity is expressed through a subtle balance between functionality, comfort, light, and memory.
